Student Housing

Nicosia – Pallouriotissa Area

The Hub's 1290 sq.m plot is located 2 km from the University of Cyprus. Due to its proximity to the university and its size it was ideal for a student housing facility.

The objective was to create an autonomous 24sq.m. unit for each student that would contain a bed, a desk with bookshelfs, kitchen, w.c. with shower and a wardrobe.

With this in mind Studiomk35 - Architects have managed to place 40 dorm units in 2 floors.

On the ground floor at entrance level there is a small cafeteria, the infirmary and the vehicles parking area. At the basement level we designed a big open space with double height for leisure activities and a studying area for 20 individuals.

The design approach was to create a modern building that would reflect its occupants lifestyle and expectations and have a playful character to the façade through the balconies. The introduction of color on the façade was achieved through the glass balustrades on the balconies with gradient coloring and for the indoor spaces by introducing colorful equipment in the common areas and the housing units.
